This is the work I plan to read at the King's Book Open Mike this evening. Today is the Friday of the three-day Holocaust conference at PLU.
From a longer poem called "Born in Alaska"
The story of Abraham Malm and Alaska,
was Hilda's story
because she was ten in Finland
when her brother Abraham married
and went to America,
to Tacoma, Washington,
where brother Johan lived already.
And it was a story Hilda could tell
Signa about Alaska, where Signa was born.
Once, in the dark in a car outside
Signa's house, Signa told the story
of how Hilda remembered
Abraham Malm visited them
from Alaska, he had a badge
he showed them, he was a sheriff.
The story of Abraham Malm and Alaska
was Amanda's story as well,
because she was eleven and met
Uncle Abraham and his wife. It was
1896, in August, when Amanda and Marie
And their mother came there,
Abraham and Anna lived
just downhill across a yard
on the hillside. Two years
later Abraham went to the Gold Rush
in Alaksa. He sent her a lovely card.
My grandma lived on the East Slope
in Old Town, where the view
was the lumber mill
with the red glow in its burner,
in the far distance smoke
and the ships that went in to port.

Author Astrid Forsberg says: It seems to me as if we own far more power over being fellow human beings than we use . By 'we' I mean here especially the women. There are wives and mothers , female youth leaders and board members , who cry with tears in his eyes and beside himself with despair : ' I have no power anymore, I have no power to direct and control those people, who are close to me , as I s interest for the ! ' The kind of power the desperate , who feel powerless , striving , the power to help, the power of his personality and his spirit might bring others to a certain goal. And it is clear , that many a time the feeling of powerlessness has to appear , both for the intent -

sense do not always speak the truth. Just at that moment they believe they have lost all power to redeem , to help another human being , one has to calm and collect themselves , rather than to exclaim in despair. The loneliness and the collection while you will feel that the power is there for temporary failures and external adversities.
But there are many of us who abuse their power and even more who do not tend to it at all. Both parts are dangerous. That without violence to others' feelings and free will exercise their power to help , to liberate, to support is an art. Only by quietly without any preconceptions approach a fellow human being in benevolence and any friendship , we can exercise the power - to the building . And we can develop and strengthen this power just by farming the right . We do not have many and beautiful words to use that power. Here is no question of conversion attempts , persuasion , and the like, which in most cases begets resistance of the person they want to influence. The trick to use his power associated with our ability to act by giving on another person's struggles and difficulties , follow this person's soul shifts , rise up and help precisely where needed. Why do people strive for power ? An unfortunate person is often greedy for power . I remember a teacher who was terribly possessive . I was then in life knowing that she lived in a failed marriage . But she took ' revenge ' or replacement on school children - Each one is master of his poor , says a proverb . A happy person is suffering rarely of lust for power. The happy people are those still in the country that are not bred and haggle.
When one has become free from the lust for power which is actually revenge desire, then there remains a different kind of power - the power that lies in influence over the people - not in order to glorify himself but to help them understand themselves and develop their forces to own good. a fine power form - joyful and happy doing business. It is practiced by many teachers and other educators. And it often becomes retrospect of a life- wisdom , when the youth has fled the coop .
They often speak derisively about anyone: he or she wants to be felt everywhere. OTHERS DO YOU WANT?
Dr Poul Bjerre is currently on a visit to Germany invited by Philosophical Association to hold a lecture on the topic : Force and anxiety in relation to the internal freedom . To solve the problem of freedom on a whole basis is Dr. Bjerre’s heart 's desire. The mighty passion which animates him in this great endeavor was also used as a warm and vibrant current through the series of lectures he recently held on Swedish radio in which he sought to highlight the only road that leads away from violence and overcomes war.
Can violence be overcome? That is a question that interests us. For who wants to be a victim of violence ? And , who wants to admit that he is engaged in violence , whether he now has policies or just at home on the battlefield .
In his radio talk on these issues Doctor Bjerre talked on war as a psychological apparition . He does not share any of the usual views: one claims that a people's clout is its health, the urge to attack is the highest of virtues and that the military organization is the bearer of the people's highest traditions. Nor the second, according to which war is a relic from the past, and therefore as soon as possible should be culled since its old romance has estimated the decay and become mass- murdering’s big industry, the truly compelling pacifist means after all, if a people in harmony and sense of togetherness succeed in building a country for a good home for all citizens, it is a more glorious feat than any martial victory. No man could stand out with loneliness and the lack of spiritual breath of life. The week has been rainy but yesterday I took my bike out. Put a little air in the tires first, everything was not so cold that riding was cold. It has helped so much since 1990 to take the bike to shop.
