Two Heads Are Better Than One - Old Adage

My thought was the thought of permanent waves.   The thought of the houses was different and  was brought to my concern.  After my sister and two cousins had lunch on June 4th, my cousin drove past Mason, and she pointed out the houses.

Many people know that at a Proctor District house originated the Washington State Women’s suffrage movement.  Tacoma Historical Society raises awareness about the antique treasures.

The structures going for an apartment building are smaller and more modest, and do not offer historic note, so do we deprive smaller, less ornamented structures importance?   These houses are listed at the Main Library at the Pacific Northwest Room Buildings Index.

Fifty years ago I left Mason Junior High.  My math class was in an old house on Proctor. We walked in the back door.  Proctor lost the 1924 building, demolished in 2001.  In an earlier design, Mason demolished the repurposed houses.  Now three other houses are to be removed for density apartments.

Clusters of old houses could be repurposed as hybrid housing. Old buildings where I rented after college, now antiques, are no longer inexpensive.
Where the photo booth
was, probably a school
festival.  Jr. High.

I walked past, watched waves of ivy on the roof approach the porch rhododendron.  My thoughts then were partly caused by my cousin’s concern, so I need to add, houses, both large and small.

My thought was about permanent waves.  My mother phoned Mr. Lee’s beauty school downtown, I would take the bus to have a permanent in Junior High School.  At a point each time the student paused, a piece of my fine hair in her fingers, to call with calm for the supervisor.  Together they would agree that my hair did not take a perm.  So they left the chemicals in for a long time.

Both large and small, in kitchens of houses, I need to add to the thought I was having.  My thought was of how home permanents were boxed in the fifties.  Thrifty women saved the curlers.  A box had enough chemicals for two short-hair perms.  The gray air at the kitchen window, my mother and Aunt Pearl took turns winding their short haircuts around the two sets of curlers and squeezing on the chemicals.  This might be Satuday when I was in the early grades.

Clean Fridge Photos

Cleaned the fridge out in the last couple of days.  Sprayed the crisper drawers out in the sink and gently cleaned with a botanical disinfectant.  Heading toward market vegetables and fruits, only on simple easy level, and nothing long-term or "canning".   Lots of green beans out there, need to realize it can make sense to appreciate that.
Ice and a little cranberry juice concentrate.

bulgar wheat, wheat germ and corn meal, with mayo.  nothing inside the crisper drawers.

Sun Today, Birds at the Park

While I took a snapshot of a big piece of a horse chestnut tree that broke off, a heron flew above and toward the pond, did not land.  At the pond, on the other side was the heron at the top of an evergreen.  The heron's neck formed several shapes as it noticed someone in a chartreuse jacket with a camera and chose to lift off the evergreen and go another way.

There was also a red-winged blackbird at the pond, at the top of a small cedar tree.  Sun today.

Lilac Aroma

Was sick and busy with other matters, as well, so the internet has done without me.  The lilac bush was a perfectly wonderful event today, all lilac aroma.  Today I would have looked up an interesting bird sound on the internet.  But is happened to be a delivery truck making a steady small parking beep.

Ready For Hillary - That Sounds Like A Good Idea

One - Ready For Hillary
I still own the Ladies Home Journal spring issue in 1993 that describes Hillary Clinton’s intellectual accomplishments, a really smart First Lady, a practicing lawyer.   That Ladies Home Journal came from a large chain pharmacy along a boulevard from a hospital emergency room in Virginia Beach.   I saw a medical professional at the emergency room for an ear infection, a condition I recognized from an earlier ear infection in 1985.  I bought the Journal along with my prescription penicillin, then Chinese food at a nearby large chain Chinese restaurant (take with food), more transit travel with my transit schedule back to the motel via a convenience store for bread, peanut butter, I think fruit juice and newspapers.
I was at the AWP 1993, at their then home base in Virginia and instead of the touristing I read and took  penicillin.  In the autumn there were newspaper photos of Bill and Al, Hillary and Tipper, the Journal article with Hillary Clinton’s photo on the magazine cover was my introduction to Hillary Clinton.  As a poet,  other reading materials absorbed me, it had been a long time since there had been a chance to have a Ladies Home Journal.  But this was pure homespun for me, I was sick, you see, and lucky one was on the magazine rack.
I cannot release the idea that “Ready for Hillary” requires penicillin.  Perhaps if I share my situation during my introduction to Hillary Clinton, I can make the transition.
Two - Ready For Hillary
Over twenty years since 1993, a recent episode displays Hillary Clinton and her effort for reimagining the incident, “Is that a bat?” she wants to know.
And perhaps some restructuring of the incident could have made this object a bat from the ceiling. Someone threw a shoe.  Also, it was not a fashion critique, it was an object brought in and reused as a projectile.
My shoe is a fashion critique, because it matters so much to me.  My thoughts are steeped in a still picture of the incident.   In the picture,  Hillary was wearing high heels.  As a mature woman, I rejected that shoe type long ago.  There are a lot of sensible walking shoes that are very office appropriate.
I have never owned a car, I use public transit, walk, or since 1990 use a bicycle.  My newest shoes (see illustration) have orange like signs the bus passed this morning, “Caution, Flagger Ahead”, and “Caution Steel Plate On Roadway”.   These are athletic shoes, I am not the only female who uses sensible shoes.  A female Chief Exec - that sounds like a good idea.
